What do you believe about the bible?

i'm interested in how we all view the bible?.

let me start by offering three different options:.

a.. a book that at best may have cultural or historical interest but that is it.. b.. a divinely inspired guide that i consult to make important life choices.

One great eye-opener is Pauls writings in the 1 Corinthians chapter 7:

27 Are you pledged to a woman? Do not seek to be released. Are you free from such a commitment? Do not look for a wife. 28 But if you do marry, you have not sinned; and if a virgin marries, she has not sinned. But those who marry will face many troubles in this life, and I want to spare you this.

29 What I mean, brothers and sisters, is that the time is short. From now on those who have wives should live as if they do not; 30 those who mourn, as if they did not; those who are happy, as if they were not; those who buy something, as if it were not theirs to keep; 31 those who use the things of the world, as if not engrossed in them. For this world in its present form is passing away.

Paul tells the christians in Corinth not to get married and have families, because the world was going to its end. This is exactley the same cultish bullshit we are familiar to from the JW. This was written some 1950 years ago. We can just speculate about how many of the first christians that were fooled by that doomsday expections. Christianity was a doomsday cult since it's beginning.

It's not the first time I've heared this. It's really interesting. I think a psychologist would name this projection.

Of course every JW knows about the shunning, it's very obvious. Nevertheless they never will admit publically that they shun people, but in certain cases it looks like they never admit it to themselves.

Problems with the "Bogus AWAA Fan Page"..

good afternoon jwn... .

i`ve spent the morning and part of my afternoon... getting to the bottom of... why names were added to the awaa fan page... it`s a dangerous thing to happen in our world... faders can be outed,we can lose,family,friends... the results can be an absolute disaster... .

aawa "did not" create the facebook awaa fan page.

Are you sure? In that case the group settings are not set to the highest level of security. I had a talk with Bo, and according to him it should be at top security level. But I don't understand why on earth they changed the settings (according to Juan Viejo) to an open group. That's like giving 1300 names to the WTS. How do they think??

i'm sure 90% of all readers agree with me when i say this new light is just a fantasy being played out in the minds of the governing body who originate it and in the gullible rank and file who uncritically accept it.

though out the wt study designed to explain the new light we see rampant compartmentalization.

I don't think we will see those symptoms within the GB. They are acting in a rational way, tightening their grip and doing damage control.

But, among believers, definitley yes. It would be disasterous if they reacted emotionally on every change in teaching. So, yes, I think we can observe a lot of isolation/compartementalization.

In the long run, this probably will result in some symptoms, maybe depressive.....feelings of emptyness etc. If the cognitive dissonance ( in a way a defence mechanism) can't protect/defend the beleivers self-images this in the end can maybe be a psychological "time-bomb". Hmmm...I hope I'm wrong.

Sophie: That 1914 must be less important for the WTS now, since the FDS appeared in 1919. We will probably see less of 1914 in print....remember 2014 is not far away. I'm a bit more sceptical about the 144000. I don't think they'll dare change that.

HAmser, the WTS deals with this in a special way. There is a difference between "other sheep" and "the great crowd". The greaat crowd are only those "other sheep" who survive the big A. Those who have died are still considered as "other sheep", but not part of the great crowd.

But, those closed groups should be moderated/administered in that way that there is no possible way for individual members for adding new people. This eliminates the risk that a nuthead will add 100's of people to the group.

Each new suggested member has to be accepted by a moderator/administrator.

You can be added to a group without accepting.

But, if it's a closed (secret) group the group activities shown on your own timeline cannot be seen by people outside the group.

Yes..this is very important. A lot of XJW are trying to expose the dogma of the WTS in order to get their loved ones out. But this will never ever work. It will have the opposite effect. Theu feel that their beliefs are under attack, and thereby they get to the conclusion that it must be the truth..and everyone opposing the "truth" is lying.

If you want then to get out you have to communicate to their real/authentic self, not to the manipulated cult self. Being confrontative will never work.
